Rare is the high strangeness symposium that brings together speakers who do not claim to have all of the answers to unknowns and perhaps unknowables. When you think about it, such talks should not be so rare. They should be the norm–the self-evident norm. And yet the things that sell are confidence and answers. In other words, security sells. Expertise sells. Answers and predictability are comfortable, and they are necessary in most instances in our lives. But when it comes to the subjects that touch the depths of us, the opposite is true. Discomfort with our oft-repeated assumptions is necessary and questioning is the answer.

Sitting with deep questions opens a door within us. Open it a bit and see that this is where insight lives. A bit further and imagine like a child again. Swing it wide and you may be transformed.

On December 10th, the Island of Hawaii will witness such a symposium, with speakers who simply get it–and from completely different angles. If you are unfamiliar with any of them, here is a taste of what’s to come….
